Privacy Policy

Last updated: 31 August 2026

Even is a chore app for two people sharing one home. To do that it has to hold some genuinely personal things: the errands you run for your family, a note you wrote to your partner, sometimes a photograph of your kitchen. This policy sets out exactly what is collected, why, who else can see it, and how to get rid of it.

It is written from the app's actual data model rather than from a template. If something here is unclear or looks wrong, write to support@evenapp.site and we will fix the policy or the app.

The short version

  • Even stores your chores, your household and your account so the two of you see the same list on two phones.
  • Your partner sees your household's data. That is the product. Nobody outside your household does.
  • Setup asks whether Even may send analytics and crash reports. Unless you say no they stay on, and either can be switched off at any time. Neither ever carries a chore name, a note, a photo or an email address.
  • Even does not sell your information, does not show advertising, and has no advertising or data-broker partners.
  • You can delete your account and everything in it from inside the app, or by asking us.

Who we are

Even is operated by Mukund Pandey ("we", "us"). For the purposes of the UK and EU General Data Protection Regulation we are the data controller for the information described here. You can reach us at support@evenapp.site.

In this policy, "the app" means the Even mobile application, "the Service" means the app together with the systems that sync it, and "your household" means the Even household you belong to — at most two people, by design.

What Even collects

Information you give us

  • Your email address, when you create an account. It identifies your account and is where sign-in codes are sent.
  • Your password, if you sign in with one. It is stored by our authentication provider as a salted hash; we never see or store the password itself.
  • Your Apple account identifier, if you choose to sign in with Apple instead. We receive an identifier and an email address; we do not receive your password. If you choose to hide your email, we only ever see Apple's relay address.
  • Your display name, chosen character and signature colour — how you appear to your partner in the app.
  • A profile photograph, only if you add one. This is optional; every person in Even has a drawn character and the photo replaces nothing.

Information created by using Even

This is the bulk of it, and it is the part that is personal. When you use the app it stores:

  • Chores — the name of each chore, how often it happens, which day it starts, roughly how many minutes it takes, an optional description of what "done" looks like, an optional reminder time, and who is its tracker and its doer.
  • A record of things being done — which chore, by whom, when, how long it was estimated to take, and whether it was that person's turn.
  • Photographs of completed chores, where you choose to attach one.
  • Thanks — a mark of thanks against something your partner did, and the note you wrote with it, if you wrote one.
  • Asks and promises — a request that a chore be picked up, who it was aimed at, any promise made in reply, when it was due, and how many times it was followed up.
  • Proposals — a suggested chore or change waiting for your partner's answer, and its outcome.
  • Your weekly check-in — the closed record of each week's split of doing and tracking, what the two of you agreed to change, and the note either of you left.
  • Household membership and invite codes — which household you belong to, when you joined, and the short code used to pair the two of you, including when it was created, when it expires and who redeemed it.
  • Snooze reasons — the phrase you picked or typed when a chore was set aside.

Information collected automatically

  • A push notification token and whether your device is iOS or Android, if you allow notifications. This is an anonymous handle issued by Apple, Google or Expo; it lets a notification reach your device and identifies nothing else about you.
  • Diagnostic and analytics data, but only if you have switched it on. See Analytics and crash reports below — this section is narrower than you may expect.
  • Ordinary server logs at our hosting and database providers, which record IP addresses and request timestamps for a short period as a matter of operating and securing the Service.

What Even does not collect

  • Your contacts, your calendar, your location, or your device's photo library beyond the individual photograph you choose to attach.
  • Advertising identifiers. Even carries no advertising SDK and does no tracking across other apps or websites.
  • Payment details. Even does not take payment directly; any purchase is handled by Apple or Google under their own terms.

What your partner can see

Everything in your household is shared with the other person in it. Your partner can see every chore, every completion, every photograph, every thanks note, every ask and every weekly check-in in your household — including ones you created. That is not a side effect; a shared list is the entire point of the app.

They can also see your display name, your character, your colour and your profile photograph. They cannot see your email address, your password, your push token, or anything belonging to any other household.

Before you write something into Even, treat it the way you would treat a note left on the kitchen counter. If you later remove a chore or a household, your partner may already have seen it, and their device may hold a copy until it next syncs.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting anything done before you did. Where we rely on legitimate interests, we have weighed those interests against your rights and you may object — see Your rights.

Where your information is stored, and who processes it

We use a small number of service providers. Each is a data processor acting on our instructions under a written agreement, and none of them is permitted to use your information for their own purposes.

ProviderWhat it handles
SupabaseThe database, account authentication, and the private storage bucket that holds profile and chore photographs
ExpoDelivery of push notifications to your device, through Apple's push service
ResendDelivery of transactional email, such as a sign-in code
SentryCrash and error reports — unless you have turned error reporting off
PostHogProduct analytics on European servers — unless you have turned analytics off
AppleSign in with Apple, if you use it; distribution of the app and any purchase made through the App Store
CloudflareHosting of this website. This site sets no cookies and runs no analytics.

Some of these providers operate outside the UK and EEA. Where information is transferred internationally it is protected by the UK International Data Transfer Agreement, the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses, or an adequacy decision, as applicable. Product analytics are configured to a European region.

A copy of your household's data also lives on your own phone, so the app works with no signal. That copy is removed when you delete the app.

Other times information may be shared

Beyond the providers above, and the other person in your household, there are two situations in which your information could go somewhere else. Neither is routine.

If Even changes hands

If Even is sold, merged into another business, or wound up, the information described in this policy may pass to the buyer or successor as part of that. We will tell you — in the app or by email — before your information becomes subject to a different privacy policy, so you have the chance to delete your account first if you would rather it did not go.

If the law requires it

We may disclose information where we are obliged to: to comply with a court order or other legal obligation, to respond to a valid request from a public authority such as the police or a regulator, to investigate a suspected breach of our terms, to establish or defend a legal claim, or where someone's safety is genuinely at risk. We will not hand over more than the request actually calls for, and where we are permitted to tell you it happened, we will.

Analytics and crash reports

This is the part most policies are vague about, so here is precisely how it works.

They are two separate switches, and the last screen of setup asks about them directly, with neither answer chosen for you. If you say no, both go off there and then. If you press on without answering, both stay on — and Settings → Privacy turns either off whenever you like, which is also how you object to us relying on them at all.

Nothing is captured on a first launch until the answer stored on your phone has been read, and nothing is sent while the app is still working that out.

When they are on:

  • Events are named and sent by hand. Automatic capture of screens and taps is disabled, so there is no stream of everything you touched.
  • Events carry counts and fixed categories — that a chore was completed, that a week was closed, which of three check-in choices was picked. Free text has no route into them.
  • A redaction layer strips personal detail out of anything on its way to either provider, at any depth, as a backstop against mistakes. Chore names, display names, "done looks like" descriptions, thanks notes, check-in notes, snooze reasons, drafts, photographs, file paths, email addresses and phone numbers are all removed before anything leaves your phone.
  • Crash reports carry the technical detail of the failure — the error, where in the code it happened, the device model and the app version — not the contents of your list.

You can turn either switch off at any time in the app's settings, and it takes effect immediately. Your answer is kept on that phone, is not shared with the person you live with, and survives signing out.

Push notifications

If you allow notifications, Even stores one push token for your device so it can tell you that a chore is due, that your partner asked for something, that they did something, or that it is time for the weekly check-in.

Notifications are prepared on our servers, which resolve who should be told and what the message says before it is sent. You can turn notifications off in your device's system settings at any time; the token is replaced whenever your device issues a new one, and removed when your account is deleted.

Photographs

Two kinds of photograph can exist in Even: a profile photograph, and a photograph attached to a completed chore. Both are optional.

They are held in a private storage bucket — not on a public URL. Access is granted per request, for a limited time, to signed-in members of the household the photo belongs to. Guessing a file path gets nothing. The app requests camera or photo-library access only at the moment you choose to add a picture, and you can refuse and still use every other part of the app.

How long we keep it

  • Your account and household data — for as long as your account exists.
  • Completions, thanks and closed weeks — these are an append-only record, so a household's history stays intact for as long as the household does. Deleting your account removes your share of it.
  • Invite codes — they expire on their own, and are cleared once used.
  • Push tokens — until they are replaced by a new one or your account is deleted.
  • Crash reports and analytics — kept by those providers under their own retention schedules, typically no more than 90 days for crash reports and 12 months for analytics.
  • An empty household — removed automatically once nobody is left in it.
  • Support emails — kept for up to two years so we can follow up on a thread.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account and its data from inside the app: Settings → Account → Delete account. This removes your profile, your push token, your photographs, and your household — a household in Even is two people, so when either of you leaves it ends, and every chore, completion, note and closed week in it goes too.

Deletion is permanent and there is no undo. Backups are overwritten on their own schedule and are fully purged within 30 days.

If you cannot reach the app, write to support@evenapp.site from the address on the account and we will do it for you within 30 days. Full instructions are on the Delete Account page.

Deleting your account does not touch your partner's account. Their sign-in survives and so does the copy of the list held on their own phone, which is theirs as much as yours and is not ours to erase; what ends is the household the two of you shared.

Your rights

If you are in the UK or the EEA, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you, and get a copy of it.
  • Correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in the app.
  • Delete your information, as described above.
  • Restrict or object to processing we carry out on the basis of legitimate interests.
  • Portability — receive your information in a machine-readable format.
  • Withdraw consent at any time, for notifications, analytics or crash reporting.

Write to support@evenapp.site to exercise any of these. We will answer within one month, and we will not charge you or treat you differently for asking. If you are not satisfied, you can complain to your national data protection authority — in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

If you are in the United States

Several states — California, Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Texas, Oregon and others — give their residents rights over personal information. Whether or not those laws apply to an operation this size, we will honour them: you have the right to know what is collected and how it is used, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, and not to be treated differently for asking. The categories we collect are identifiers and the user-generated content described above. Write to support@evenapp.site and we will answer within 45 days.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising — as those terms are defined by the CCPA and CPRA and their equivalents in other states — and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months. There is no opt-out to offer you, because there is nothing to opt out of. We do not process sensitive personal information for the purposes those laws restrict, and we run no targeted advertising or profiling of any kind.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to a household's rows is enforced in the database itself by row-level security, not only in the app, so a signed-in person cannot read another household's data even by asking the API directly. Photograph storage is private and served only through short-lived signed links. Sessions are held in your device's secure keychain or keystore.

No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If you believe you have found a vulnerability, please write to support@evenapp.site before disclosing it publicly, and we will work with you.

Links to other places

Even links out in a few places that are not ours: the App Store, WhatsApp or whichever messaging app you use to send an invite code, and the websites of the providers named above. Following one of those links takes you somewhere governed by someone else's privacy policy rather than this one. We have no control over what those sites collect and are not responsible for it, so it is worth reading their policy before you give them anything.

Children

Even is intended for adults running a home together and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 13, or under 16 where local law sets that age. If you believe a child has given us information, write to support@evenapp.site and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes we will update the date at the top of the page, and for any change that materially affects your rights we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use Even after a change means you accept the updated policy.
